A depiction of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. The artist departs from the canonical approach to composition by abandoning the traditional iconographic scheme. Unlike traditional depictions, a separate interior element — the table standing perpendicular to the foreground of the painting — symbolizes tension and a profound universal human drama. The contrasts of lighting — bright flashes of light and deep shadows — along with the sky filled with darkened, moving clouds, lend the scene a sense of anxiety, revealing the dramatic and moral significance of the event.

«The Last Supper»
«Jesus took bread, and having blessed it, broke it and, giving it to the disciples, said: take, eat: this is My Body. And taking the cup and giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying: drink from it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the New Covenant»
Matt., ch. 26, verses 26-27
Centuries flee, but the Last Supper remains – A weapon unto the beast's demise. Its mysterious essence – Is Knowledge, the Face, and the Way.
«…For many are called, but few are chosen»
Matt., ch. 22, verse 14
It all begins With love. The dawn breaks, The sun descends – Love, By a divine hand, Brings light Into my little window!
But Conscience— The Star of Bethlehem— Will not yield to lies Or to mockery. And among the chosen, The great land Will find respite From its suffering! And will revive Beautiful minds! And the Lord will choose, I believe, Whom to call As His disciples, And invite To the Last Supper.
Vast is the world — Its face, With every wrinkle, With every span, Piercingly Bursting into life, Leads only the chosen To crucifixion! And their conscience, With nails upon the Cross, Calmly and bloodily Fastens them... Amidst the hooting And the cries: — «Crucify!» — It tries to take away Even this right.
