At «The Grace» Theater-Museum, Anna Kolesnikova worked at the intersection of history, literature, and drama, transforming exhibitions into a space for a living dialogue with the past. For her, it was important not only to maintain factual accuracy but also to capture the inner voice of the era — through letters, photographs, rare documents, visual imagery, and meticulously crafted displays. Some of the projects she worked on are presented below.
Looking back at myself 20 years later, I cannot understand how she managed to see in me a future specialist who would continue her life's work of preserving cultural heritage in the museums of our country. It was she who revealed the museum to me as a living organism and made me fall in love with it so deeply that my entire life has been and remains connected to it; only the details change. Whether I am inside the museum or outside of it, creating exhibition projects and spaces, or teaching students exhibition practice and strategic museum management, this connection remains.
«First of all, I would like to speak about the person to whom I owe the choice of my profession—my first supervisor, Valentina Petrovna Imtosimi, General Director of the «Blagodat» Theater-Museum. She is a mentor, a friend, and a teacher, a museum professional with vast experience, and a person with a big, loving heart!»

The main objective was to help the viewer see how fame is born and destroyed, and where the boundary lies between a stage persona and the fate of a woman caught in the epicenter of history.
In the project «Legend and Reality. Mathilde Kschessinska», Anna Kolesnikova, together with her colleagues, revealed the complex image of the prima donna of Russian ballet not as a mythical diva, but as a real person who lived between the stage and the political storms of the early 20th century. The exhibition was constructed as an alternation of «legend» and «reality»: preserved evidence, memoirs of contemporaries, theatrical costumes, posters, and photo albums were juxtaposed with the persistent myths surrounding Kschessinska.

«The Connecting Thread of Names: F.I. Tyutchev and L.N. Tolstoy»
................................................
Anna Kolesnikova explored the resonance between two great Russian names. This was not merely a narrative about a poet and a writer, but an attempt to reveal invisible connections—worldview, philosophical, and emotional. Through manuscripts, quotations, publications, personal belongings, and visual metaphors, the exhibition was structured as a «thread» connecting Tyutchev's reflections on chaos and the cosmos with Tolstoy's quest for a moral ideal. Thus, the curator transformed the exhibition into an intellectual journey, allowing visitors to rediscover the echo of these familiar names.

The project «The Birth of a Literary Genius», dedicated to the 150th anniversary of L.N. Tolstoy's stay in the Caucasus, focuses on the formative period of the writer's identity. The curator presents the Caucasus not as a mere biographical backdrop, but as a space of initiation, where the young officer Tolstoy endures the trials of war, solitude, and inner doubts. Documents, military records, maps, early literary works, and visual images of the Caucasian landscape weave together a narrative about how lived experience transforms into an artistic world, and how the historical Caucasus becomes the cradle of a literary genius.

The exhibition «The Unknown A.V. Kolchak», as interpreted by the project's curator, invites viewers to look at the figure of the admiral beyond familiar ideological clichés — through the prism of the personal history and fate of Admiral A.V. Kolchak and A.V. Timireva-Safonova, his beloved. The exhibition is constructed as a dialogue between the chronicle of large-scale political events and personal correspondence, photographs, and personal belongings. In this combination of the grand and the personal, the tragedy of a country and human emotion, the main principle of Anna Kolesnikova's work is revealed: to remind us that behind every name lies a living person, behind every historical turning point — a fragile private fate that history is not always ready to hear, but which the art of exhibition-making can give a voice to once again.
